Introduced in the New York and Stoke Mandeville Paralympic Games, in 1984, Boccia is a sport that requires concentration, muscular control and great precision. Practiced in 42 countries, Boccia is not part of the Olympic Games Programme.
Open to people with cerebral palsy and other neurological problems, the competition consists of throwing balls (red or blue) as close as possible to the white ball. The event can be disputed individually, in doubles, or by teams.
